The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have already broken records, and they can now boast a new accolade: Their cameras have been named best of any smartphone on the market today by camera specialists DxO Labs, though that doesn't mean they were perfect.

Using a combination of industry-standard benchmark tests, known as DxOMark, as well as real world use, the experts at DxO Labs have awarded both iPhone 6 variants the highest mobile scores ever, with both scoring 82.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Sony Xperia Z3 come in slightly below the two iPhone 6 models with scores of 79. For reference, the iPhone 4 manages a score of just 50.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus' triumph over the Sony Xperia Z3 goes to show that image quality isn't all about the number of megapixels you can cram in. Whilst both iPhone 6 variants have an 8 megapixel camera, the Xperia Z3 comes with 20.7 megapixels, yet still falls short of Apple's snappers.
Comparing Apples with Apples As expected, DxO found very little difference between the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, with the latter benefiting from faster autofocus thanks to on-chip phase detection pixels and optical image stabilisation.
Overall the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus cameras were commended for having very good overall exposure, impressive autofocus in both low and bright light conditions, good colour rendering, good detail preservation both indoors and out and good performance with flash.
The cameras weren't perfect, however, with the iPhone 6 suffering from luminance noise that's visible in low light conditions, as well as some ghosting and fringing.
Both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus' cameras also had colour quantification and moire visible on some photos.
Video star However, the video recording features of the cameras were also tested and the variants performed very well, with DxO Labs noting that autofocus was very fast, accurate and repeatable, and was in fact the best ever tested by the DxOMark Mobile team.
Stabilisation, colour reproduction and fine-grained noise were also impressive when filming. However, DxO Labs noted that some stabilisation artefacts were visible during video capture with the iPhone 6 Plus, perhaps due to the larger iPhone's optical image stabilisation.

KFC Japan's iPhone case: An answer to #BendGate?

Now this is one case that could keep your shiny new iPhone 6 from getting bent.
The case, which resembles a huge chicken leg, is part of a Twitter promo campaign by KFC Japan - and definitely won't let you slip it into your pants pocket where it can get bent.
Photos on KFC Japan's website show an iPhone owner taking a call on her iPhone using the big case - and looking like she was holding a huge chicken leg to her ear.
However, the website noted the iPhone featured is an iPhone 5S, slightly smaller than the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Many owners of the new iPhone 6 Plus phablet-class devices have complained the alumninum phones would bend when they put them in their pants pockets.
But that's not all. Techies who don't own an iPhone can win a KFC-themed keyboard where the only letters are - you guessed it - K, F, and C.
They can also win a chicken leg-themed mouse - or USB drive.
As for the non-techies, they can get a chicken leg Ostrich Pillow-style headwear and a set of drumstick earrings.
But even if you wanted these kooky accessories, they may not be available worldwide, as they are so far only part of a local promo. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News

Apple said that just nine people complained about iPhone 6 Plus #Bendgate, a few days after it was revealed that the iOS phablet can be bent in a pocket. Bendgate quickly went viral though, so the company decided to take an extra step to assure buyers the iPhone 6 models don’t have a bending problem, in addition to revealing the officially reported Bendgate complaints.
Apple invited a number of news organizations and blogs including The Verge onto its campus and had them help show the world that it takes its iPhone 6 testing very seriously. Just like every other phone maker, Apple has a dedicated torture test lab for its smartphones, and many tests are performed inside, including bending and “sitting” on the phone.
“We’ve designed the product to be incredibly reliable throughout all your real world use,” Apple senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller said. “And in designing that we then have to validate heavily, and see how does it live up to real world use, and what are the forces and pressures on it, and how do you measure and prove that you’ve delivered on a specification.”
In its special lab, Apple tested 15,000 iPhone 6 and 15,000 iPhone 6 Plus units, putting them through various ordeals to make sure they can withstand various real-life situations, including being in a pocket and being sat on. Unsurprisingly, Apple is relying on several machines to get the job done, and repeats tests to make sure iPhones also endure the test of time. Interestingly though, Windows-powered computers run all of the machines, not Macs, as some of the pictures taken inside Apple’s facility reveal.
The company says there are limits to the weight the iPhones can handle and then bounce back into their original form, and that appears to be 25 kilograms, or about 55 pounds.
“The bottom line is that if you use enough force to bend an iPhone, or any phone, it’s going to deform,” Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering Dan Riccio says.
“As we expected, it’s extremely rare to happen in real world use,” Schiller added, without specifically committing to free replacements in case of accidentally bent iPhones. “In this case, as in many things, we tell customers that if you think something’s occurred that shouldn’t have with your device, go to AppleCare, go to the Genius Bar, and let them take a look at it. And we’ll see if your product is having an experience it shouldn’t have, and is covered under warranty.”
If any of this sounds familiar, that’s because Apple is playing the same game it played during Antennagate to fix its Bendgate problem. We already have an official, extremely low, number of complaints, and a tour of the place where Apple makes sure its products are tested for this particular matter. Let’s just hope free bumpers aren’t going to be the next step in Apple’s scandal containment playbook.
Some images from Apple’s stress test labs follow below, as published by The Verge, with more available at the source link.

Front Panel from 4.7-Inch iPhone 6 Once Again Shown in Photos

Taiwanese Apple news website AppleClub (Google Translate, via 9to5Mac) shares new photos of the supposed front panel from the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, including the device's display and its insides.

iphone6_appleclub_white

The images are consistent with prior leaks of the iPhone 6's front panel, showing a larger screen, a thinner bezel, rounded edges, and a cutout for the Touch ID home button. The panel depicted also features the front-facing camera and the ambient light sensor located on the left and at the top respectively, which is similar to the design of the iPhone 4.
It is not known whether the display shown is made of sapphire, which was once rumored to come with the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. However, recent rumors have suggested that the smaller iPhone 6 will not come with a sapphire display, as rigorous scratch tests may instead hint at a more durable glass screen. Sapphire panels may come to the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6, which is reported to feature a number of other differentiating factors including a faster processor and a camera with optical image stabilization.

iphone6_appleclub_black

Apple's next-generation iPhone will be revealed at an event on September 9, with sales likely commencing roughly a week and a half afterward. It is likely that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will launch first, as the 5.5-inch model is said to be experiencing production issues that may lead to a delayed release.

I'm starting to believe the 5.5-inch will NOT happen at the same time as the 4.7-inch. :(
I wish they would offer a IPhone 6 at 4".
That display looks nothing like this:

Where are the thinner side bezels? Where is the slightly curved edges? Even the top and bottom bezels looks smaller with the display shown on YouTube.
September 9th will unearth the truth.
I'm starting to believe the 5.5-inch will NOT happen at the same time as the 4.7-inch. :(

there has never been any proof of a 5.5" version. There was equal proof of that awesome teardrop shaped phone that people thought was what the iPhone 5 was going to be that never happened
5.5'' not existing comments are coming...
You think a constantly blinking light would save battery life over a screen turned on for literally 1 second? I'd like to see your data on that.

According to this reference (https://www.usenix.org/legacy/event/usenix10/tech/full_papers/Carroll.pdf) let's assume LCD backlight consumes approximately 75mW. So if it's on for 1 second, then it consumes 75mW *1 = 75 mJ.
Picking an arbitrary LED (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/533), it burns around 2.0V * 17mA = 34mW. Similar figures from some other LEDs (http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/LH%20N974-KN-1/475-1416-1-ND/1802603), but go much lower. But for worst case let's assume 34mW, and round it to half the LCD backlight.
Given that the LED backlight needs a power circuit that's fairly complicated, I would say the blinking circuitry doesn't exact any power penalty (a simple counter/timer circuit like a 555).
So if you assume each blink is 0.2 seconds, you can only blink 10 times before you use more power than the LCD backlight.
Of course, none of this is based on the actual iPhone backlight, so what do I know.
This is the panel shown off by Marcus Brownlee on YouTube. Seems more legit to me considering all the case leaks we've seen show curved edges.

iPhone 6 Battery Problems Solved By New Supplier

The iPhone 6 will probably still be delayed by metal casing and touch screen problems
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has delayed the iPhone 6 because of issues relating to the device’s battery, or at least that’s what rumors suggest. Stories about supplier problems with the Phablet sized iPhone 6 have been circulating all Summer, with little confirmation from Apple. Today’s news, which is itself unconfirmed, suggests that those problems have been solved.

iPhone 6 Battery Problems Solved By New Supplier

iPhone 6 Mockup Image
According to the report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, a Taiwanese supplier will solve the problems that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been having with the iPhone 6 battery. Rumors suggested that the Cupertino company’s current battery suppliers, which include Samsung, have been unable to mass produce batteries of the right size and flexibility.

iPhone 6 battery problems solved

According to the Taiwanese report, Simplo Technologies is able to manufacture batteries of the right thickness and flexibility for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Reports suggested that Apple was looking for batteries that were just 2 millimeters deep, much smaller than the current generation of batteries used in the company’s smartphones.
Battery technology is becoming a big problem for companies like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Consumers are hoping to see their phones last longer, while keeping them incredibly thin and light. This is basically impossible and companies have been getting creative with their solutions to the problem. As screen technology has become more efficient, bigger displays have actually added to battery life because they allow bigger batteries to be attached to the device.
Apple has fallen behind in this regard, leaving consumers with smaller screens and shorter batteries. The iPhone 6 was supposed to solve this problem, offering a huge phone with a great battery life, but the company’s desire to see the new smartphone have a slim profile won out and added to a litany of problems Cupertino is facing in producing the outsized smart phone.

Apple iPhone 6 delay very likely

The major thread of rumors around the next generation smartphones from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) suggest that the company is set to release two different models, a 4.7 inch standard iPhone and a 5.5 inch monster iPhone. Both are likely to be named the iPhone 6, likely with an added letter emphasizing the difference between the two. What’s causing problems for analysts is the expected release date of the bigger iPhone 6.
A number of problems with the production of the device, including problems with the battery, have caused analysts to predict that its release may be delayed beyond that of the standard iPhone 6. Apple is also said to be facing problems with the device’s metal casing, and even the touch screen, something Apple has been doing right for years, is apparently facing production problems.
Ming-Chi Kuo, who works as a financial analyst for KGI Securities, reckons that these production problems could push the release of the bigger iPhone 6 back to 2015. There is already a lot of pent up demand for a large iPhone, and Apple’s staggered release may hurt the company’s sales of one or both devices. Analysts are split on the issue. Apple fans are just waiting for the iPhone 6 to hit.

iPhone 5s vs iPhone 6 Features

On top of a bigger screen there are a number of potential iPhone 6 features Apple may add to the new iPhone. Even with an iOS 8 update this fall, we don’t expect the iPhone 5s will match the iPhone 6 feature for feature. Rumors suggest the iPhone 6 will feature TouchID, like the iPhone 5s. Expect both of these to offer more functionality thanks to iOS 8.

Expect an updated processor and other new iPhone 6 features like an improved camera.

Expect an updated processor and other new iPhone 6 features like an improved camera.
The iPhone 5s features a 64-bit Apple A7 processor with M7 coprocessor. The A7 processor is dual-core with 1GB of RAM. Recent iPhone 6 rumors suggest an Apple A8 processor that is also 64-bit and dual core with 1GB of RAM. It may be clocked at 2GHz and it would not be surprising to see an Apple M8 coprocessor as well.
Apple may use an 8MP camera on the iPhone 6, which is the same rating as the iPhone 5s camera, but reports suggest there is an upgrade coming. It may be in the form of bigger pixels that improve low light photography or through image stabilization that can help users take better looking photos.

iPhone 6 Photos Offer Stunning Look at Rumors

New iPhone 6 photos deliver a stunning look at the latest iPhone 6 rumors ahead of the new iPhone release date later on this year.
Apple iPhone 6 rumors continue to swirl as we push deeper into the year and closer to the fall, a season that is expected to deliver a number of new Apple products including iOS 8, OS X Yosemite, the company’s brand new iWatch, new iPads, and a brand new iPhone 6.
For months, iPhone 6 rumors have been rampant and while we still haven’t seen the device itself leak to the surface, designers have been taking the latest iPhone 6 rumors into account when producing renders and concepts. A new iPhone 6 concept from Mustafa Dağdelen depicts all of the latest iPhone 6 design rumors and showcases what the real device might look like when it arrives on shelves in the fall.

iPhone 6 Photos Offer Stunning Look at Rumors

These new iPhone 6 photos bring iPhone 6 rumors to life and offer up a glimpse at the thin form factor that’s expected to dominate the real-life iPhone 6 later on this year. We also get a look at the Lightning port, Touch ID, new volume rockers, speaker grille, and the larger screen size, all of which are rumored to be on board Apple’s new iPhone release.

iPhone 6 Photos Offer Stunning Look at Rumors

While this isn’t the first concept to emerge, it’s one of the more believable versions to come out of designers workshops. And with the iPhone 6 still a well-guarded secret on Apple’s Cupertino campus, these concepts are likely going to be the closest we get to the real thing ahead the device’s announcement date.
iPhone 6 Photos Offer Stunning Look at Rumors

iPhone 6 design rumors continue to point to a redesign that includes a slimmer design, perhaps as thin as 7mm. The iPhone 5s is one of the thinnest smartphones on the market and it measures just 7.6mm thin. Other changes are said to include a sapphire display in the front for added protection, Touch ID fingerprint sensor for added security and convenience, and tweaks to the device’s button alignment.
The design is rumored to be punctuated by a brand new higher-resolution Retina Display that will reportedly measure 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches. The 4.7-inch model has leaked out extensively in the past few months while the 5.5-inch model has been more reserved.
iPhone 6 Photos Offer Stunning Look at Rumors
Design rumors are just the tip of the iceberg. Rumors also suggest that the new iPhone will feature an upgraded rear camera with image stabilization and a brand new A8 processor that will help with performance and battery life. The larger 5.5-inch model is also rumored to feature 128GB of internal storage space. 128GB rumors have swirled around before so this is far from confirmed.
iPhone 6 release date rumors center around the month of September with the latest rumors pointing to a dual release inside the same month. The latest iPhone 6 release rumors once again put the larger 5.5-inch model outside of the initial launch date with a launch potentially coming in 2015 rather than in 2014. This differs from most rumors which put both devices inside the current year.
iPhone 6 Photos Offer Stunning Look at Rumors
While the 5.5-inch model could be delayed, sources agree that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be out ahead of the holiday shopping season. September 19th has been thrown around as a possible release datethough that, like many other iPhone 6 rumors, remains unconfirmed.
Analysts believe that while the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 could retain the company’s usual $199.99 starting price, the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 could command a price that’s $100 more expensive. Samsung charges $299.99 for its Samsung Galaxy Note which would put the larger iPhone on the same level. iPhone 6 price rumors, like all rumors, will continue to swirl around as we head deeper into the year and closer to an inevitable iPhone 6 release.

Latest iPhone 6 Rumors Brought to Life in New Video

The latest iPhone 6 rumors have been brought to life in a new video that shows off a beautiful new iPhone 6 concept that could look a lot like the new iPhone release that’s expected to land this fall in place of the iPhone 5s.
For months, iPhone 6 rumors have swirled around, teasing prospective buyers with an assortment of potential details including rumors about its design, display, camera, processor, sensors, launch date, release date, and more. The iPhone 6 remains unconfirmed but as we push deeper into the year, many of these rumors continue to firm up ahead of Apple’s announcement.
Latest iPhone 6 Rumors

In particular, iPhone 6 display and iPhone 6 design rumors have firmed up to the point that several features are all but confirmed. iPhone 6 rumors continue to point to two different screen sizes, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inches, and a brand new design that incorporates metal, a slimmer form factor, Touch ID, and of course, larger overall footprints.
iPhone 6 leaks have given consumers a glimpse at what the iPhone 6 could look like when it arrives though a majority of those leaks have been based on alleged models of the new iPhone. These models showcase the overall design, the possible dimensions, and the potential button placement but they don’t bring the whole package of iPhone 6 rumors together.
A brand new iPhone 6 concept from ConceptsiPhone ropes in the latest iPhone 6 rumors into a single stunning video and shows us what the iPhone 6 could look like when it arrives on shelves sometime later this year.
This new iPhone 6 concept video is based on the latest iPhone 6 rumors and it shows a device that’s in line with what we’ve seen from leaks and what we’ve heard from the rumor mill. The stunning iPhone 6 concept shows off an extremely thin form factor, gorgeous looking curves, a gold color, the new volume rocker, the Lightning dock standard, Touch ID, and a much larger 4.7-inch display. All of these are said to be characteristics of the real iPhone 6 making this concept one of the most believable iPhone 6 concepts yet.
While the hardware is based on iPhone 6 rumors, the software is not, and it features new icons and a brand new home screen that is unlikely to arrive with iOS 8. Fortunately, a recent iPhone 6 video showed what iOS 8 could look like on board the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 when it arrives on shelves to replace Apple’s current iPhone 5s.
